Clay Pens

Clay Pens is a very fun art project. It can express how your feeling, it can show your creative imagination, and is very easy.

Things you need:

3 colors of Modeling clay, knife (butter knife can be used), A Bic brand pen or any pen that you can pull the tip and ink straw out of the pens. (This is the amount of materials you need to make 1 pen.)

How To Make:

1. Make 3 small sized balls of clay. (1 of each color) 2. Roll the balls of clay into little surfboard shapes. the surfboard should be about 3.5 inches long. 3. Layer your clay on top of each other. It is best if your 3 colors are even. 4. Roll up your surfborad clays until it becomes long like a snake. 5. Pull the tip and ink straw out of your pen, so you just have the outside. Preheat your oven to 275 (F) or 135 (C) 6. Cut your long roll of clay into thin slices. Just enough to cover you pen in. 7. Stick your clay slices on your pen. Make sure there is enough on there. 8.Then roll your pen covered in clay slices between the palms of your hands until the clay slices on the pen spread out and cover the outside. Make sure there are no uncovered spots. 9. Smooth the clay surface of your pen and then bake it in your preheated oven for 15 min. 10. When done take out your pen gently. (DO NOT use tongs to take it out because the clay will still be a little soft and the tongs will make markings in the pen.) When your pen is cooled down stick the ink straw and tip back in the outside cover.

(the pen to the far right is an example of this style.) If you wish to have the MIXED SUSHI style you HAVE to choose 6 colors. Also state how many pens you would like.

These pens are hand made and are $1.00 each or you can by 5 pens for $3.50.
